BURNING YOUR CANDLE
SOY WAX CANDLES
Our hand poured candles are made with soy wax. We love working with soy as not only is 100% natural but we know that it's better for the environment, not tested on animals and gives you a better quality burn and longer lasting candle.
Soy wax is sensitive to temperature changes and you may notice 'wet spots' - it's where the wax contracts and pulls away from the glass and you'll see them on some of the best known brands - you may also see white spots (Frosting) or droplets of oil pooling on the top of the candle. These are all natural characteristics of Soy and these won't affect the burn quality of the candle at all and although we do our best to ensure that our candles are completely perfect these little imperfections are part of the candle making process and Soy wax.
candle safety & TIPS
All our candles have a safety sticker on the bottom so do have a quick read. We recommend that on your first burn you keep it alight for at least 2 hours, this allows the candle to reach it ultimate burn pool and also means that for future use it will burn consistently down.
Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time and please don't ever leave a burning candle unattended, especially if you have small children or pets.
Think about where you put your candle and ensure that it's on a flat surface and isn't on or near anything that could catch fire.
It's advisable to trim your wick before each burn, you can just use a pair of sharp scissors or a wicking tool if you have one. Keep the wick to approx. 1cm and you'll continue to see an even burn. If you notice any black soot around the top of the jar or you have a dancing flame then that's a sign that you need to trim your wick.
If you also notice that your candle isn't evenly burning then check that your wick is still central. If it's moved off to the side then you can carefully push it back to the middle, extinguish first then wait until the wax is still soft before you do so though!
If you're burning more than one candle you should leave at least 10cm between them and it's always better to snuff out a candle rather than blow it out.
And finally, even though it's tempting to burn your candle right down to the bottom, please don't - when you're down to the last 1-2cm it's time to buy a new one!
Each of our candles has a single crystal embedded on top and it is entirely up to you if you'd like to remove it before you burn. After the first burn your crystal will hide itself within the wax but if you feel it's affecting the burn of your candle you can gently pick it out when the candle has been extinguished whilst the wax is still soft. When you take it out give it a quick wash with some warm soapy water and that will get rid of any residual wax. Each candle comes with a crystal card that tells you more about the crystal and its healing properties.
All our fragrances are manufactured in the UK and are IFRA & EU compliant, paraben free and vegan friendly. Our CLP label is on the base of each candle but If you'd like further information then please contact us for more information.
